In 1990, Milli Brown founded Personal Profiles, a distinctive biography service dedicated to preserving family histories. Ms. Brown and her staff collect stories and information through a series of interviews that are then transformed into professionally compiled biographies. For years, Ms. Brown worked seven days a week creating books for her clients. She soon discovered that everyone -- regardless of social strata, economic circumstances, or personal experiences -- had an interesting story to tell. Even though their story might not make the New York Times Bestseller List, it would certainly be a bestseller within the family!

The response confirmed what Ms. Brown knew all along; people have an incredible interest in their roots. Having observed a tremendous pent-up demand to learn about and save our precious family histories, the next step was how to make her services available to everyone. The idea for do-it-yourself products was a natural. In her years of writing biographies, Ms. Brown had been told repeatedly by her clients of the various efforts to record their family histories. Invariably, these attempts were in vain due to the lack of know-how. the challenge was obvious; how to package years of expertise in capturing and recording wonderful family stories at a reasonable price. Thus, the Memories and Reflections Autobiography Kit, a beautifully bound book, was created with questions and prompts that lead the autobiographer chronologically through his or her life.

The biography service has been so successful that Personal Profiles, Inc. continues to grow and expand in areas that no one could have predicted. As a result, Brown Books Publishing Group came into existence in 1993 to fill a much-needed niche for those who had already written books or memoirs and needed an economical way to have them printed.
